Austempered Ductile Iron Machining

What Is Austempered Ductile Iron?

Austempered ductile iron is a heat-treated ductile iron made through an austempering process to enhance its mechanical properties. The result is a microstructure called ausferrite, which gives ADI superior tensile strength, fatigue strength, impact resistance and increased wear resistance compared to conventional ductile iron. ADI is often used in powertrain, agricultural, defense, off-highway, mining and heavy-duty industrial applications due to its durability and cost-effective performance.
